Hertz Detector — Privacy Policy

Hertz Detector is a Chrome extension published by BamBam LLC ("we", "us", or "our"). This privacy policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is handled.

1. No Data Collection

Hertz Detector does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. We have no analytics, no telemetry, and no cloud processing. The extension operates entirely on your device.

2. What the Extension Accesses

Audio data. The extension captures audio frequency data from media elements playing in your active browser tab using the Web Audio API. All audio analysis is performed entirely on your device in real time. No audio data is recorded, transmitted, or stored by us.

Tab information. The extension accesses the active tab to capture audio from the page. It does not read, modify, or store any page content, URLs, or browsing history.

3. Local Storage

The extension stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:

• Pro status — whether you have activated a Pro licence
• Activation code — your redeemed Pro activation code
• Settings — your configured preferences (e.g., Always-On mode)

This data never leaves your device. Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data.

4. Permissions

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

• Active Tab — required to capture audio from the currently active tab
• Tab Audio Capture — required to access the audio stream for frequency analysis
• Storage — required to save your Pro status and settings locally

5. Pro Activation

When you redeem a Pro activation code, the extension sends only the activation code to our backend API to verify its validity. No personal information, browsing data, or audio data is included in this request.

6. Third-Party Services

The extension itself does not use any third-party services during normal operation. Pro activation codes are validated through our backend API. Payment processing for Pro upgrades is handled on our website via Stripe — see the BamBam HQ Privacy Policy for details.

7. Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed to children under 13. It does not collect any personal information from anyone.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
